It is a new mill, having come on line in May 1998. The current mill replaces a smaller paper mill with a capacity of 40,000 tonnes per year that was situated in central Madrid. It was shut down when today's mill began operations. Holmen acquired the paper mill in year 2000. Read about Holmen Papers history.
