High Bulk Paper

If you choose a high bulk paper for your supplement, you get more print surface for every tonne of paper that you buy - without sacrificing print quality, opacity and paper feel.

Since the paper weighs less, you can buy fewer tonnes of paper for your print run than what you would using a regular paper. Or, you can add more pages to your supplement or insert while still buying the same amount of paper in tonnes. More bang for the buck!

bulk [bʌlk]

1. The relationship between mass and volume

2. The thickness of paper or a book

The term bulk is used to define a paper's volume and is measured in cm3/g. Two different papers with the same grammage (the amount one square metre weighs measured in g/m2) can have different bulk depending on how much the fibres have been compressed during production. The lower the bulk, the thinner the paper.

The fresh fibre has advantages compared to a recycled fibre when it comes to making high bulk paper. The fibres are longer and more voluminous than recycled fibres, making it possible to produce a strong sheet with equal bulk, but with less fibres and more air.
